A Green Park named "Taman Tingkir"

Are you running out of idea where to do exercise or have fun with your family in the afternoon or at the weekend, where you can watch your children play happily and safely in friendly open green park? Tingkir Park (Taman Tingkir) can be the answer.

In order to provide more facilities, particularly open parks for the residents, Salatiga government has already built Pancasila Field (Pancasila Town Square), Salatiga City Park, Selasar Kartini and lastly Tingkir Park which is located on jalan Marditomo in Tingkir sub-district. If you come to this park on sunny day you will see a beautiful park with mount Merbabu view in the background. It reminds us to the past history when Indonesia was still colonized by the Dutch and designed Salatiga as a resting place for its cool area.

The name of Tingkir was derived from a young man named Mas Karebet who liked meditating and had a supernatural power and when he grew up, people called him Jaka Tingkir, afterwards he became the founder and the first king of Pajang Kingdom.

Tingkir Park uses solar power to light the park at night. You can see many lenses or mirrors above park lamps and these will convert sun rays in the day time into electric current using the photovoltaic effect. This high technology will reduce the utilize of fossil fuel, so it doesn't cause air pollution. it's really friendly green energy to the environment.

And as a recreational park, with children's playground, Tingkir Park is also equipped with jogging tracks and a tennis court.
